Oh my, Lillian is over three weeks old already and I've only had time to post three blog posts. Does that tell you how it is going? When Will is at home, it is nearly impossible to get anything done. This was a little bit of the truth before Lillian came around but even more so now. He would always jump on our bed while I would try to fold and put away laundry. Now he will do that OR go outside. Nothing will keep him inside any longer. He pulls down the baby gate, opens the door and he is out. That boy would live outside if we would allow him to.
Luckily he does stay close to the house playing with his new big tractor and truck that he got for his birthday. He scoops up the gravel and 'dump it' into the truck, moves it somewhere else under the car port and 'dump it' again.
Other than Will wanting to go outside non-stop, he has been such a great big brother. He loves to hug her, make sure she has her
paci, and if there is a bottle near, he must feed her!
Feeding, how is that going? Well, it does seem to be that I am on the track to
exclusively pumping again. I'm sure that if I tried really hard, we could get rid of all the
pacis and bottles and I could make a million trips to Topeka to the breast feeding clinic to get her to get a proper latch. With a two year old, I find that a little difficult to sit for an hour to two hours trying to get her to eat enough for her to be satisfied. And, lets face it, it hurts! When a baby has a bad latch you might as well cut off a limb with no pain medication because I'm sure that would feel better than a bad latch! It is so much easier to just pump (yes, that hurts too) and give her a bottle in an hour than attempt to nurse for 2 hours (when you have a 2 year old who is determined to be outside!)
Other than the eating
difficulties, Lillian is a great baby. So far, we have been blessed twice with great babies. She eats every 3 hours during the day and night but in the evening she will eat every hour and half to two hours. On three
occasions now she has done that and then slept for six hours! Yes, 6 hours! She is only three weeks old so there is in no way shape or form I am wanting this or expecting this. She does like to be held when she is awake at least for a while. This was a problem when she was awake at night so much but now she has that figured out too. It took a week of her being up from about 2-6am. It sucked but if I held her she fell asleep and I could sleep too. This is what got her to sleep at night and awake during the day.
We are now doing cloth on both kids. Lillian leaks out quite a bit but with breast milk poop, that is kinda expected even in disposable diapers. We do not have quite enough diapers to diaper 24/7 but with what we do have, it will save us a bunch of money until Will is potty trained and she gets all of his too. Then we will have enough for her to never have to do disposables.
Will has started going back to daycare a few days a week. He needed it as he was getting way to used to being home and going on those beloved "Tractor
riiiiiide" Yes, that is how he says it with so many i-s. Today was the fourth day back and was the first time he
didn't hold on to my leg crying wanting me to take him back home.
Since Will is at daycare today, I need to feed Lillian again and get to work! The kitchen tends to get back to being a mess within a day of not being able to do much.
