Baby should weigh right around four pounds now! It is hard to believe, and he is about 16 inches long. I can feel him and his body parts much more. I will feel his butt right above my navel. Pushing on it lightly makes him move to another place, I have had fun playing with him doing this. Dennis says that I am picking on him but it isn’t hurting him so I’m just having fun! I have just started to notice him behind my ribs this past week. It gets just a little uncomfortable when he is up there but I just push him around and then I can sit again. I have an appointment on Tuesday to see how the little guy is doing.
With all this snow we have been having, Dennis has been doing his dad’s chores for a couple of days so that he can plow the roads. Dennis was kind enough to plow H Rd north on Thursday to make sure that I could get to work. I really needed him more on the St. Benedict road. I had to drive on the wrong side of the road in order to not get stuck in the four foot snow drifts. That was really the only bad day. Who knew that 3 inches of blowing snow would cause 5 foot snow drifts! I think everyone is looking forward to this week ahead because melting snow is forecasted!!
I got Katie spayed on Monday. She had ran away yet again while in heat. This time she was gone for 3 days. If she did get pregnant, her puppies would have been due only a week or two before the baby we want arrives! I would not have been able to handle that. Luckily it was the coldest week of the year so she had to stay inside while her incision heals a little. I had never seen that much blood, even when Kyle cut off his finger! It was horrible; she bled all over the car, on the porch and me. She probably lost a good cup or two of blood. The VET said to wrap a diaper around her, luckily I had gotten a few freebies. She is starting to get board inside. Since tonight will finally be nice enough for her to stay outside, she will.
Dennis and I sanded the baby’s room last night and then he decided to put one more coat of mud on the ceiling. He should have it sanded today so that tomorrow I will be able to start panting. I am so excited to get it done! This is the only thing that is making me anxious. If the crib doesn’t get done, oh well I just want the room done before the baby shower so that I can put things away.

10 Weeks Left!!!!

Good news, I passed the 3 hour gestational diabetes test!! I sure did indulge in all the sweets from Christmas. As always, I am a little ready for all that to end so that I can start eating a little healthier again. Key word being LITTLE! Baby is getting to the point where I can now feel where his butt is. It is pretty funny being able to feel him move from the outside now. He weighs a whopping 3- 3 ½ lbs now. I will start going to the doctor’s appointments every two weeks after this next one on the 12th. One craving that I have been having is Krispy Kremes!! Maybe I should send my blog to them and see if I can get some kind of endorsement for sharing to the world at how their doughnuts are so much better than any other wanna-bes out there! Thanks to Dad for getting me some since no one around here sells them any longer. It is hard to believe that there are only 10 weeks left! This pregnancy has gone by so fast, I just don’t understand why so many women hate being pregnant or complain that they have been pregnant forever. Whenever I am having a bad day like yesterday I just wish I could drink a ½ bottle of wine!
The baby’s room is in about the same state as before. Dennis has a job to do indoors now and so he hasn’t been at home to work on it much this last week. Of course we were snowed in on Christmas but it was a holiday and no one should have to work on a holiday… says the one who has to work if scheduled! But anyway, we did get the window in and I picked up the paint so I am ready to paint when the room is ready.
Like I said, we were snowed in on Christmas so it really didn’t seem like we had much of a Christmas. We pushed up my Mom and Dad’s Christmas on Christmas Eve and had it at 1. By 4:30 we had to leave to ensure that we would not be stuck in Sabetha for days. So we ate and unwrapped gifts quickly. Since we usually have supper and then go to the midnight church, it just seemed odd. On Christmas, Dennis attempted to go to his brothers to help out with chores and made it a whole mile before he got stuck in the tractor. So, he came home and Loren somehow managed to get to our house in the afternoon to crash at our house instead of being stuck at his mice infested house. He couldn’t make it to his parents house so I guess best next thing, us! On Saturday it took us about an hour to get from our house to Mark and Dottie’s for the Deters Christmas. It wouldn’t have taken us that long but some 2 door red Grand Prix decided to get out in the crazy weather. It took four guys shoveling snow and Dennis to hook it up to his truck to pull the car out of the snow drift. In the processes of this, one of the state trucks got stuck and then a tractor got stuck trying to get the state truck free. It was a mess but we finally got there. Since our Christmas’s were postponed until Sunday we had two to go to then. It was a great day just faster visiting than wanted. Katie has decided to run off several times now! She came home on Christmas day after two days of being gone. Today makes day three now that she has been gone. It is very frustrating not knowing where she is or if she is okay. I have had several nightmares now that she is injured or even worse. I just pray that she is okay and will return home safely. So, in the processes of righting this I have thought of Katie only two dozen times and I have eaten the last two chocolate glazed Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

Merry Christmas!
3rd Trimester tests
At 28 weeks you have to do a lot of tests, important tests. If you remember back, I was tested for Rubella and came back on the line for being immune to it. So, I was tested for that again along with the gestational diabetes test. The best result was that I am not immune to Rubella, so after the baby is born I just have to get my MMR shot again. So, baby and I will both be getting that! The bummer part is that I also failed my gestational diabetes test. This means that tomorrow morning, I have to go back in and do the 3 hour test. It is really 4 hours because I have to arrive there at 8AM and drink the yummy orange drink wait an hour and then they start drawing blood every hour for three hours, AND not eat the entire time!! If I fail this test, I guess I have gestational diabetes. I hope that I will get to take all the deserts home and freeze them from Christmas!! Other than that, the baby is measuring right on, his heart beat is the same ranging from 130-150 bpm. Dennis got to go with me to do all the extra stuff so he saw how a pregnant woman gets poked and prodded. I also got my RhoGAM shot.
Since it has been so cold, Dennis hasn’t gotten the chance to work on anything that he could get paid for. Good news to me though, he has gotten so much done in the house! He moved the laundry room out to the porch. The baby’s room and the hallway is all sheet rocked. All the lights work now, the hallway, bathroom and the hallway closet. It is so exciting; I never knew a person could be so excited for lights! Since it is going to be crappy again I think he will get it all mudded in time for me to paint on my week off work. He also bought me a washer for my birthday!!! I woke up to an awesome, energy efficient Maytag washer that is top load but has no center console. So, it holds a lot more stuff in it, and exactly what I had wanted.
I guess I kinda updated you with the baby updates. Visiting Amber was fun, I felt bad we didn’t stay two nights but I was so tired I would have been a bore. We ate at Famous Daves BBQ and then we went to Dave and Busters after. If you have never ate a Famous Dave’s I recommend it! It was very good and a lot of BBQ for really pretty cheap. Dave and Buster’s was pretty fun, Dennis had never gone so to be a kid every now and then was really fun. We did a Gene Machine that takes the pictures of two people and transforms it into what your child is to be. I’ll attach a picture, we both thought it was pretty comical. We then went to the Nelson Art Museum in the morning. We stayed away from all the paintings, I figured that if we did that, Dennis wouldn’t mind as well. I was disappointed that the ancient Egyptian exhibit was closed. I thought Dennis would really appreciate that. We went through the Native American exhibit and ancient Chinese exhibit. I do think he enjoyed seeing things that were 1500 years old. I had a good birthday. We went to see the movie The Blind Side, I would recommend it to anyone. It was not the tear jerker like I thought I would be. We ate at Sonic afterwards. I love Sonic, it is one of those places that you have to have the same thing every time you go. For me the cheddar bites, grilled chicken wrap, and diet cherry limeade is the usual order. So, tomorrow I will be going into the hospital in the morning, hungry and board to see if I do indeed have gestational diabetes. I will let you all know next week, cross your fingers for me!

27 weeks
I can’t believe how fast this pregnancy is going, 27 weeks is the last of the second trimester! After the odd morning last week, I have felt great or at least back to normal. Since baby weighs over two pounds now it is getting harder to breath for me. He has been VERY active. I think he went a full 48 hours without sleeping… at least if he was sleeping we may need to be worried about a sleep-walker! Since my next appointment isn’t until Thursday, I don’t have anything else to update you on this little guy.
Dennis and I have both LOVED this snow! He has been working hard at home. He has transformed the basement into his little shop. It is all cleared out with tables and everything down there. It is quite impressive. He started today working on getting the laundry room on the porch. He hates every minute of it but it will be so nice to have the baby’s room done! He will get it all done within the next few weeks and then he gets to start on the crib!!
As for me, I have been working nights, a little hard when the guys are downstairs making so much noise. I don’t feel like I can complain though. We have some determined mice in our house too… I have had several traps set out… like always, only I thought I had finally gotten anything that they could destroy and make me unable to use put in the cabinets. Well, I apparently missed a packet of liquid pectin. There may be a mouse or two or a dozen who are stiff somewhere in our basement. After drinking the pectin, they then started in on our canned goods. Yes, the soup sure does look good on the label but you don’t get to taste the soup if you just eat the label! I guess mice don’t understand that because they have eaten the labels off of several of our canned soups and beans. Anyway, this week has been pretty quiet, nothing compared to the week ahead of us. We are off to visit Amber and Ryan in KC tomorrow. I think we are just going to stay Friday night and then come back home Saturday night, so it will be a short trip but one that needs to happen before baby comes along!

Quick trip to the doctors:
Don't worry all is okay with baby! Thursday morning I work up and was very dizzy, couldn't catch my breath and my heart rate was running about 100. This kept on for an hour or so so I called the hospital and talked to the nurses. They had Dr. Glynn call me back and she wanted me to come in just to check everything over. They also took some blood to check and see if maybe I was anemic and also check my thyroid levels. If those come back okay then either I am diabetic (will find that out on the 17th, I am not far enough long to find out yet) or it is just a fluke, will never happen again, or, it is just a late 2nd trimester kind of thing and it will happen again. She then also wanted me to get a sonogram done to make sure that there was nothing wrong with the placenta and double check the baby to make sure he is still doing fine. At the hospital getting the sonogram done, I started to black out. I asked for crackers or something and so the tech guy ran out to get something and while he was out, a lady came in and sat with me. I was seconds from completely passing out when she told me to lay on my side. I rolled over and very quickly felt much better. The tech guy then came in and gave me some OJ and crackers and then I was back to normal. Not really sure why I about passed out but I am much better now. So, the sonogram went well and reconfirmed that he is a HE and he weighs about 1lbs 12oz. The nurse called this morning and said that my blood work came back all fine and the only thing out of the ordinary was that I had low blood sugar levels. I was very glad to hear this because I was conserned that I would have gestational diabeties. So, all is fine with baby and me!
There really isnt anything else new or exciting to post about, just living our lives, starting to get cold! Dennis did go hunting on Wednesday afternoon, he siad they saw a few deer but nothing to get. I am glad just because I do not like deer meat... so, shhhh, I'm hoping that he doesn't get one, or gives the meat to someone else! I am taking another day off work on Saturday, so I will have another long weekend. Also, the 1st was my 3 year anniversary at work so it is my last pay raise unless the whole county gets one.

Week 25!
What a great week I had off! I can’t believe how fast it went though. At week 25 baby should weigh just over a pound and a half. And in one week, he will gain almost half a pound! He has been moving around much more and since he is bigger it feels as if he really is doing flips in my belly! Our doctor’s appointment went well; his heart beat is still all over the place, from 130-150. I on the other hand, gained a lot this last month. Not so excited about that so I am looking forward to the holidays being over just so that we have less bad food around. Of course all I really want is cheese and pasta anyway, make it Alfaro. Yep, that is what we will have to have for supper now! So, we are going to take our pregnancy classes on the 14th and the 17th. I also made our next appointment for the 17th. This is going to be the long one, where they test for gestational diabetes. I also have to be tested to see if I am immune to rubella. I guess that if you get a 10 then you are immune to it and I got a 9 when they tested it the first time. Then I also have to get my RH shot since I have a negative blood type. So, that will be a long doctor’s appointment.
Dennis and I had a great holiday and following weekend. Saturday we went to Manhattan and he got a joiner, so he spent a lot of money but he will be on his way to making that baby crib! He has been transforming the basement into a little shop. That will be really nice for him once he has it all fixed up. He put a few more lights down there last night. I am actually really excited for him. He loves to do all this woodworking stuff but hasn’t had the equipment or the space. When we got back on Saturday, Loren called and had a few of Dennis’s friends in to go out to eat. So, we went to the Windmill and then came back home and played cards for a while. So, I think he had a great birthday.
As far as what I did on my break from work was pretty well nothing. I helped Lex at the flower shop a few days and that kept me busy enough. I actually only had Monday and Tuesday that I did nothing just hung out at home and did my typical day off chores. So, I am back at work just in time for the weather to finally realize that it is December!
